Resources
The Iroquois success was highly related to the resources they had. First, they had an abundant amount of forests. In these forests, there are pines, maples, beeches, chestnuts, and birches, which worked as great materials for building shelter, weapons, tools, and fire. Second, they had plenty of fresh flowing water. Without water, people can only survive for three days and having plenty of fresh water is almost the greatest resource that they could get. Third, the Iroquois had a quick source of clothing from animals and plants. In the winter, they could use the animal hides and furs for warmth. In the summer, they made clothes out of plants for coolness. Fourth, they had many ways that they could supply themselves with food. On one hand, they had the option of fishing, which was available all year round and quick to get. On the other hand, they could also hunt for food. With these four essential needs of a human to survive, it is not hard to see why the Iroquois had a great success.
