The Iroquois people knew how to bend and shape the wood when it was green or after steaming it. house frames, snow shoes, toboggans, lacrosse stick and other wood products were made by them through this technique.
Rope was made using the inner bark of hickory and basswood. Burden ties and prisoner ropes wire made by braiding together the nettle or milk weed. they also made pipes of fired clay.
Even before the Europeans came, they are known to have an intricate network of trade with several other tribal groups.
